The ACT, district by district

Planned streets, but every district moves differently

Canberra's grid gives every district wide roads and clear access, but the building stock in each precinct shapes the move. Pick your suburb for the local detail.

Belconnen District

Grid planned, wide streets, good truck access.

Gungahlin District

New builds, townhouse complexes, boom gate access common.

Woden Valley

Town centre mix, government offices, loading dock access.

Tuggeranong District

Residential family homes, wide streets, 25-30km from Civic.

Weston Creek

1970s planned suburb, peaceful streets, easy access.

Inner North

Heritage homes, mature trees, narrower laneways in parts.

Inner South

Large blocks, leafy streets, some tight heritage driveways.

How it works

A move that is planned, not improvised

  1. Get a quote

Tell us your from/to addresses, your dates and a rough inventory. We quote on the real access at both ends, not a generic average.

  2. We plan the access

Boom gates, lift bookings, parking windows, building manager sign-offs. We sort the detail in advance so move day runs smoothly.

  3. Moving day

A careful crew wraps, loads and delivers. Floors, doorframes and banisters are protected. Nothing is improvised.

  4. Settled in

We place furniture where it belongs, reassemble what we dismantled, and take away the empty cartons if you would like.

Why choose us

Canberra knowledge, careful hands, honest quotes

We plan the access, not just the route

Canberra looks easy on a map. Wide arterials, planned grid, generous blocks. In practice every precinct has a quirk: Gungahlin complexes with boom gates, inner-north heritage trees in the laneway, Belconnen apartment buildings with lift-time windows. We check all of this before we arrive, so we quote correctly and the truck is in the right place on the day.

APS moves handled properly

Posting timelines are tight and agency paperwork can add steps. We are familiar with the Financial Year-end rush (June and July fill up fast), DHA-assisted moves, and the quoting format some agencies ask for when claiming relocation assistance. Get your removalist booked once your posting is confirmed, not after your notice period ends.

The Canberra-Sydney corridor, done properly

Roughly 290km via the Federal and Hume Highways, three to four hours by truck. We run this route regularly, both dedicated moves and backloads. A backload shares truck space when your dates are flexible and saves money; a dedicated truck runs to your schedule when timing is firm.

Honest, itemised quotes

A clear price for your specific move and access, confirmed in writing. No meter-running, no day-of surprises. If your access changes before the day (the building manager confirms a different lift window, say) you tell us and we adjust.

Common questions

Good to know before you move

How do I get a quote for a Canberra move?

Use the quote form with your pickup and drop-off addresses, dates and a rough idea of your inventory. The more access detail you include (body corporate restrictions, lift timings, building manager contact), the closer the first quote lands to the final price.

My move is tied to an APS posting date. How early should I book?

Financial year end (June and July) is the busiest period for Canberra removalists by a significant margin. Book as soon as your posting confirmation lands, even if the exact move date is still to be confirmed. Most removalists hold a date with a deposit and adjust the schedule once times are finalised. Two to four weeks notice is workable for most moves; one week at FYE is risky.

Can you help with a Canberra-to-Sydney (or Sydney-to-Canberra) move?

Yes, and it is one of our most common runs. The Federal Highway and Hume Highway route is approximately 290km and three to four hours by truck depending on load and conditions. We offer dedicated moves (your inventory, your schedule) and backloads (shared truck, flexible dates, lower cost). APS posting moves can be quoted in the format your agency requires for a reimbursement claim.

How do you handle apartment moves in Canberra?

Most modern ACT apartment buildings require a lift booking with the building manager ahead of a move. Some Gungahlin and Belconnen developments also have vehicle access restrictions (boom gates, weight limits) or require a body corporate sign-off before a truck enters the property. We check all of this when you book, coordinate the timing, and confirm what access is available before move day.
